Temporary Tattoos
Although there is a resurgence in permanent tattoos, temporary tattooing also remains very popular. This is true especially in children, where temporary tattoos are offered in bubble gum wrappers, quarter machines, toy sections of local stores, cereal boxes, etc. However, adults also find that temporary tattoos have a certain appeal.
The primary advantages to a temporary tattoo is that they eliminate the manifold health risks associated with permanent tattooing. Additionally, they allow for a change in design with changes with your tastes or moods. They are also far less expensive. This applies mostly to traditional temporary transfer tattoos.
Another form of temporary tattooing that is gaining in popularity is airbrush tattooing, where an artist uses an airbrush to apply paint to the exterior of the skin much in the same manner as a permanent tattoo artist uses a needle gun. Although cheaper than permanent tattooing, airbrush tattooing is a costlier form of temporary tattooing. The results are often very impressive with the vibrancy of color far greater than can be achieved with permanent tattooing since the paint remains on the skin surface and often exhibits a glossy sheen. Air brushed tattoos can last for up to a week before fading.
Other cultures have developed decorative forms of temporary tattooing using henna, a form of which is crossing over to Western cultures. Henna tattooing can take up to two weeks to fully fade form the skin.
The great benefits of temporary tattoos are that they present little chance for infection as might permanent tattoos. Additionally, if you are contemplating having a permanent tattoo but are not quite sure which and where, then temporary tattoos afford an inexpensive and pain-free opportunity to experiment a little before committing to go under the needle.
